Topophilia: 2012-2014

In 2011, when I arrived in Tampa, Florida to pursue my graduate degree, I began examining the city space.. At that point in my life, I had moved 20 times since leaving my childhood home in Mexico at the age of 19, and hence, I had a necessity  to transform the foreign space into a visual narrative that spoke of a desire to feel at home.

Ultimately, most of the works I produced while attending The University of South Florida, speak of a memory of a place I knew was only one more of the many places I would inhabit in my life. Starting with an exploration surrounding the apartment complex where I lived in the Temple Terrace area, I photographed particular points and eventually moved on to examine the streets through which I frequently traveled.
